Video Explains Ground Source Heat Pump System Standard

A new video has been created by the CSA Group on the standard for the design and installation of ground source heat pump systems for use in the United States and Canada.

CSA-448 is a joint effort of the CSA Group; NGWA; the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers; and the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association. The CSA Group is an internationally accredited standards development and testing and certification organization.

NGWA played an instrumental role in ensuring groundwater protection and system efficiency was in the standard.

NGWA’s newly formed Ground Source Heat Pump Advisory Panel is looking to participate in making comments to potential revisions to CSA-448. A work session is being planned by CSA at the IGSHPA Technical/Research Conference and Expo, March 14-16 in Denver, Colorado. NGWA CEO Kevin McCray, CAE, will be in attendance to attend the session.

The Advisory Panel is also working to draft a best suggested practice related to direct exchange heat pump system installation into the earth.
