Ron Bucca Promoted to CEO as Summit Drilling Fortifies Expansion Strategy

Summit Drilling, an environmental and geotechnical drilling services provider, announced that its President and COO, Ron Bucca, will expand his role as the company’s new CEO effective January 1, 2022.

“This is the natural progression of our growth strategy,” states Robert R. Kreilick, Jr., Summit Drilling’s CEO since 1986. “After 35 years I’m proud of the company we’ve built and humbled by the amazing people I’ve had the privilege of working with. There are no words to adequately express my gratitude to them. I have tremendous confidence in Ron’s focused leadership, strategic vision, exceptional operational talent, and ability to take Summit to the next level. I look forward to working with him and our investment partners at Brass Ring Capital, Annapolis, DVG and serving on our Board of Directors. Summit is in a very strong position. With Ron at the helm, the future for Summit looks very bright.”

Bucca has nearly two decades of cross-functional leadership experience in both the private and public sectors. Bucca has a proven track record of value creation in multiple private equity backed businesses.

“Last April, we introduced our institutional investor partners and announced the recapitalization of the company,” Bucca states. “In a very short period, we’ve refined many of our critical processes to increase our communication and value to customers. Simultaneously, we’re investing in our operational foundation to support aggressive growth. I feel fortunate to have Bob’s continued mentorship, inherited an incredible team, extraordinary field talent, and exceptional customers, many of which are decades long relationships.

“We value them all and look forward to expanding our geographic footprint and earning the trust of many more. Our ongoing commitment to provide ‘an exceptional experience’ will ensure that we do.”

Bucca currently serves in the U.S. Army National Guard and has multiple combat deployments to the Middle East and Africa. He received his bachelor’s degree in Finance from Tulane University, a master’s from Dartmouth, and his MBA from Columbia Business School as a Pat Tillman Foundation Scholar.
