Not Missing a Thing

By Thad Plumley

Do you remember when the feature stories, columns, and news of a magazine arriving in mailboxes was a monthly event?

You would sit at the desk in your office or in the cab of your truck and catch up on the latest happenings. A monthly dose of content worked. You’d skim the magazine over the course of four weeks and then a new replacement arrived just in time.

What do you think of that arrangement now? You probably think that’s so 20th century. How did grandpa exist in such primitive times?

Incredibly, Water Well Journal was delivered as a bi-monthly magazine its first 10 years. Shudder to even try to comprehend that.

We began speeding things up by adding important groundwater industry news items to the WWJ website in 2013. The news was there for those professionals who couldn’t wait for the magazine and were browsing their computers.

That was the soft opening. We began delivering the entire WWJ issue digitally to readers in 2016. It gave those who wanted to digest the feature stories, columns, and news on their phone or tablet an option. But most importantly, it gave those readers a head start. The digital issue arrives about one week before the print copy gets stuffed in mailboxes.

And now that’s not enough.

Life is a blur and people’s consumption of media reflects that. As a magazine editor, it’s my job to keep up—to give you news and tools to help you succeed at your job as quickly as possible.

So, let me introduce you to three new free WWJ emails.

WWJ is now delivering an email with the latest industry headlines the first week of the month. This will enable you to  keep up on critical announcements, regulations, and other pertinent groundwater items.

That email is followed the next week with one containing featured equipment, tools, and products from our industry’s manufacturers. We know keeping up with the latest wares is important to your success, so we’re now delivering them to your inbox.

An email containing WWJ’s entire classified section follows the next week. When you need something, WWJ’s important classified marketplace is now accessible anywhere.

The email containing the digital issue follows the last week of the month. Four weeks in a month, four emails from WWJ. You can sign up to receive them at waterwelljournal.com/sign-up-for-our-newsletters.

And of course, the WWJ website and Twitter and Facebook accounts are updated daily with news items and other important announcements.

We’re literally there for you—every month, every week, every day.

If you’re my age, you remember seeing the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off with your high school friends. Near the end, Ferris looks into the camera and tells us:

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

With WWJ, you’ll never miss anything in your professional life.
