NGWA expresses its condolences to the family and friends of John Schrack of Selma, California, who passed away on February 5. He was 97.
Schrack began working in the water well industry for C.O. Brose Well Drilling following his military service in World War II. He served as president of the National Ground Water Association in 1985 and the California Groundwater Association. In 2010, Schrack and his wife, Leapha, were the first inductees into the CGA’s Hall of Fame. Schrack was also a CGA Lifetime Member.
In 1974, John’s youngest son, Jim, bought into the business. By 1981, John and Jim became equal partners, making the business family-owned and renamed it Schrack Drilling Co. John retired in 1990.
