The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released on June 4 the Draft Assessment of the Potential Impacts of Hydraulic Fracturing for Oil and Gas on Drinking Water Resources for public comment and peer review.
As part of that process, the EPA’s Science Advisory Board published a Federal Register Notice announcing a public meeting and three teleconferences. The deadline to submit public comment for the Science Advisory Board Panel’s consideration is August 28.
Comments on these materials may be submitted using the e-Government Regulations.gov website. From the site, select “Environmental Protection Agency” and the keyword “EPA-HQ-OA-2015-0245” (for the docket ID).
NGWA plans to file comments on the draft study, expressing support for the study and highlighting the ways in which its findings are in line with NGWA best practices and published position papers The draft comments are currently being reviewed by NGWA’s hydraulic fracturing task force and will be made available on NGWA’s website after submission to EPA.
